FAQs

Where should I store my chocolate?

We treat our chocolate with as much love and care as possible as we believe that this reflects in the all-important final taste! To keep your chocolates at their best, please store in a cool, dry place out of sunlight. Please avoid storing in the fridge as this can impare the taste, texture and look of the chocolate. Fresh products need to be consumed within the specified time period on the packaging, please see individual items for more information.

Are you products suitable for nut allergy sufferers?

We are a small artisan company and we hand-make nearly all of our products in the Creighton’s Kitchen. The kitchen handles nuts on a regular basis so unfortunately we cannot guarantee that any items are nut-free.

Are your products Vegetarian?

Most of our products are suitable for vegetarians, with the exception of some inclusions (i.e marshmallows) which contain gelatine. Please see each individual product for more information.

 Are your products Gluten Free?

Our chocolate is gluten free. However some additional ingredients (e.g pretzels, popcorn, marshmallows) may contain gluten. Products containing gluten are highlighted in the description and on the labelling. Please see each individual product for more information.

Are your products dairy free/Vegan?

All of our dark chocolate products and our Yes, Yes, Yes bars contain no added milk. However, we cannot gurantee that they won't contain traces of milk due to the hand-made nature and kitchen environment. We have a small selection of dairy free truffles available. Please see each individual product for more information. We don't use any eggs or animal derived products unless otherwise noted.

Are your products soya free?

No, all our products contain soya lecithin as an emulsifier.

Do you products contain artificial colours?

Chocolate products that are coloured pink, red, green or blue for decoration may contain artificial colours that may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children. These colours are not AZO free and are added to our chocolate in absolute minimal quantities where no natural alternative is available to give the desired coloured effect. We use non-AZO colours for our products that have a transfer design or a metallic finish. In general, we do not add artificial colours to products unless they are required to give a coloured design. Products containing artificial colours are labelled on the packaging and flagged in their descriptions in our online store.

Do you sell diabetic chocolate?

Yes, we sell a small range of milk and dark chocolate bars that contain no added sugar or low sugar. Please see our online store or contact our shops for current stock availability.

Where are your products made?

We hand-make as much of our range as possible (that's nearly everything except things like marshmallow, fudge and biscuit inclusions). We use the finest ingredients we can source and, where possible, support local and independent suppliers. Everything is made and wrapped by hand in our kitchen by our small team of chocolatiers in small batches. This means that our products are fresh with minimal time between being made and reaching you in the shop! We are constantly developing new recipes and products using high quality, fresh ingredients so you can always be sure that Creighton’s chocolates are a unique and equally delicious purchase.

Where is your chocolate from?
We use finest Belgian chocolate couverture that contains natural vanilla and pure cocoa butter in the majority of our products. Our origin bars are made from finest quality cocoa beans grown in locations renowned for their superior and unique chocolate. We only use chocolate suppliers with proven strong ethical & social responsibilities. All our chocolate is chosen for its quality of taste – put simply, if we don’t like it we won’t sell it!

How long does your chocolate last?

All our solid products (bars, figures, lollies etc) have a displayed 'best before' on the packaging. In general, white chocolate lasts for 6 months, milk chocolate for 12 months and dark chocolate for 18 months. This time can vary depending on additional ingredients and date of production. Fresh & filled chocolates contain fresh dairy and fruit so therefore have a much shorter life. They must be eaten within 2 weeks of purchase. If chocolate is exposed to extreme changes in temperature conditions it can cause it to 'bloom'. If your chocolate has a white 'bubbled' texture on the surface this will be due to blooming. The chocolate will taste the same and is still safe to eat. We check for signs of blooming daily and will not sell any products that do not meet our high standards. However, storage & transport conditions that are beyond our control may cause this to happen.

What is the nutritional value of your chocolate?

Each product is labelled with it's nutritional information on the packaging. We are also happy to provide this information on request if required. Products packed to order (truffles) are not required to be labelled with nutritional information on the packaging due to the nature of how they are sold.
